Brown Sugar (বাদামী চিনি) is sold in Bangladesh as partially refined or unrefined sugar, made from sugarcane with some molasses content. It contains about 85–95% sucrose along with small amounts of minerals from molasses. Good quality brown sugar is soft or slightly coarse, moist, uniform in color (light to dark brown), aromatic, and free from lumps, foreign matter, or mold. It is commonly used in baking, cooking, beverages, and traditional sweets, and should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to maintain moisture and prevent hardening.

White Sugar is widely sold in Bangladesh as refined crystalline sugar, produced from sugarcane or sugar beet processing. It contains almost 99% sucrose with no significant vitamins or minerals. Good quality white sugar is pure white, dry, free-flowing, and free from lumps, dust, or impurities. It is commonly used in tea, sweets, beverages, and cooking, and should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture absorption and clumping.
